Perimenopause and PremproFrom: Jean (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Apr 2000 16:09:01 -0500 (CDT)
I had experienced a heavy, prolonged period in March of 99. My doctor performed an endometrial biopsy which was benign. Then I had an internal and external sonogram of the uterus, etc.. They proved ok. My doctor placed me on Prempro (the lowest dosage) in July 99. My periods became less in volume but more frequent (almost every two weeks). They last almost two weeks as well but very light to minimal. Do you think I need a different dosage to help regulate my cycle or would another avenue such as birth control pills do the trick? I am 47 years of age, and never had any children. I had been experiencing moderate hot flashes, irregular sleep patterns, occasional heart palpatations and my FSH level was considered high by my doctor (these symptoms along with the bleeding prompted my doctor to place me on the Prempro). I would appreciate your comments. Thanks.
