Question on possible bowel obstruction?From: Jill (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Apr 2000 14:24:54 -0500 (CDT)
Hi I have a question on a possible bowel obstruction. I underwent a hysterectomy 3 months ago w/ bladder repair. About six to eight weeks after surgery I began to have problems releasing my bowels. I feel the need to go and then my stomach begins to cramp up very badly. Sometimes it cramps so badly I can barely walk. And I feel an urgent need to go because of the cramping, but I can't. I have such a hard time rerlieving my bowels. It seems every time I have to go now I have such horrible cramping in my stomach. I would literally have to sit in the bathroom for at least an hour with the cramping before I could even relieve myself. I am not constipated because when I do finally go it is very soft almost like diarhea. I sit in pain for hours almost every day with my stomach cramping before I can go. I have never before had any problems with my bowels until this surgery. What could be going on? Should I consult with my gyn or see a specialist? I also would like it to be known that I am on 100mg macrobid once a day for the past two weeks I don't know if this has anything to do with this or not? Please advise. Thanks.
-- Jill
