chlamydia questionFrom: Kari (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Apr 2000 10:41:27 -0500 (CDT)
When I got pregnant with my 2nd child I had all the normal test done, one that came back positive was for chlamydia. I was shocked. My dr's nurse was also shocked by the test and even inquired at the lab as to their false positive rate. The nurse felt it was a mixup but my dr. did not want to retest right away, he wanted to get me on antibiotics and then retest later after I had finished antibiotics. I knew I hadn't been with anyone beside my husband for 8 yrs and I had no reason to feel my husband had been unfaithful. But, I began to question his faithfulness since the only way to get it is thru sexual contact. I felt rather stupid when he tested negative. Now my question is, if it was possible to have contracted chlamydia before I met my husband wouldn't it have shown up on a previous test, even if it was dormant? If it doesn't show up on tests while dormant shouldn't my husband been given antibiotics too, just in case? If I did have it all these years, wouldn't it have wreaked havoc on my reproductive organs by now?
