I have been scheduled for Tuesday May 2 for all this bloodwork. One of the things my PCP is having done is the Insulin Glucose Tolerance Test. Thing is the test is going to last for at least 5 HOURS starting at 8:30 am- ugh. Is this the normal testing period? Also, what are they going to do to me during that time? The technician told me that I can only have water from 8:30pm on the night before. I am on Prilosec (for acid reflux). Should I still take it? I also am a 1 cup a day morning coffee drinker and they told me I couldn't have any coffee which after 5hrs will turn me into an absolute mess. Technician said I could have an Excedrin (which has some caffeine)in order to keep the coffee withdrawal at bay, but will doing that mess up the tests?
