My question is every time I have intercourse now I spot >blood afterwards. There are a number of possible causes, including cervicitis, an endocervical polyp, or, rarely, endocervical cancer. However, the most likely source by far is that a small amount of endometrial tissue (the lining of the uterus) remains attached to the cervix. This can actually lead to a monthy "period" although it is usually only spotting. It can also lead to postcoital spotting. There are pros and cons to a subtotal hysterectomy. One of the cons is that this can occur. It can be easy to fix (cauterizing the inside of the cervix in the office) or hard to fix, depending on the amount of bleeding. I have known a few patients over the years who have underwent removal of the cervix because of bothersome bleeding. Since it's not possible to tell for sure what it is without an exam, it's best to see your doctor. Good luck with everything.
