Clarissa: Thank you so much for putting this whole "herpes" thing into perspective. I sometimes run into my gynecologist because he works in the building I work at and sometimes comes into the surgicenter, especially when he has a minor case to do, so I plan on talking to him about this. He doesn't mind and does actually ask how things are going with me. At first, I was freaked, and still am a little, however, you have helped me not to feel so cheap and dirty. I don't know why I felt that way, I guess because I thought only people who have had many partners and one night stands got this. But, after talking with my very close friend who works at my gyne's office, she also told me that they have older women who contract herpes and some of them are not sexually active!!! I don't feel so bad now. I hope that you can understand how I felt as I was not permiscuous (sp) when I was single. In fact, my husband was my one and only. (I just wanted it that way). But now after getting opinions from the docs here and what you said made me feel so much better and made me see that I am not alone and that this doesn't happen just because a person has many partners. Again, let me express my heartfelt thanks! I am keeping your email for moral support (if that is ok) just in case I have another outbreak. By the way, this lesion never did blister, it just sort of "dried up" and now is totally gone. But the pain stayed for a long time...it too, is now gone. ((hugs))
