cycle length too short?From: abaxter (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 18 Apr 2000 11:21:40 -0500 (CDT)
I menstruate about every 22-24 days, usually around 23 or 24. I ovulate regularly and am extremely healthy and active. I am 26 ys old. I recently miscarried a 9 week (LMP) fetus that was appropriately developed for its age and which had a heartbeat of 180. Early in the pg (6 weeks), I developed low progesterone (fell from 12.5 to 7), but began oral supplementation at 300 per day. Progesterone level rose to 17. At 7.5 weeks, my gest sac was a little small (1 week behind), but baby had grown, heartbeat normal. Miscarried at exactly 9 weeks. Still awaiting results from testing on the fetus. This was my first pregnancy and miscarriage. I got pregnant the first time my husband and I had unprotected sex. My concern is that my cycle length is somehow responsible for my low progesterone (or vice versa), and that this caused the miscarriage despite supplementation. I've always had very regular periods and noticeable cervical mucous each month, have had follicular cysts, etc. But many women seem to have longer cycles. Now I'm wondering if I have a cycle problem. . . obviously I'm kind of paranoid right now.
