Jennifer Placental abruption (premature separation of the placenta from the uterine wall) is usuually associated with a significant amount of pain. Lacking that, one would think that this kind of bleeding might come from a low lying placenta or a muh more benign condition referred to as marginal abruption of the placenta. Marginal abruption is where just the very edge begins to separate. This is usually painless bleeding. It has a tendency to come and go, but seldom gets real heavy. In genereal the best thing to do is to stay down and to watch. RDB
