vulvodynia????

Hi, Thanks to all who responded to my first post on this board. Now I have a further question. A few people on another board have suggested that the symptoms i've been experiencing may indicate vulvodynia. Does this sound right to any of you? Particularly to the doctors? In case you didn't read my original post here are the symptoms I described:

The first is a pain at the very top of my genital area, actually kind of where the labia meet at the top if that makes any sense. It isn't constant but pretty often I feel it. It's almost as if there is a cut there and anytime I try to spread the labia apart I feel sharp pains there. It also hurts sometimes just if the crotch of my jeans hits me in a certain way there. It's very very painful at times but sometimes not at all.

Second, I also get very itchy under the labia at the top of my genital area sometimes. It's kind of limited to the area around the clitoris. I don't understand it because it's so limited in area, and I don't have any strange discharge.

If you have any idea about this, i would really appreciate your comments. I'm kind of worried about what will be done to me to diagnose this problem, will there be a painful exam involved? I finally did set up an appointment at the campus health center for a gyn exam, but i'm not sure yet if I should mention these symptoms. I'm scared enough as it is! Thanks for your help! Amy
