Recurring Yeast Infections

For the past two years I have been plagued with stubborn yeast infections. Femstat used to take of the problem. This last time, I used two boxes of Femstat with no relief. I went to my doctor and she prescribed two courses of Diflucan. I thought I was cured, but here it is again. Since I have these infections so often I would like to treat myself. I notice that Monistat's active ingredient is Butoconizole Nitrate vs Miconazole Nitrate for Femstat. Should I perhaps give another OTC yeast medication a try? Is there an advantage to using a 7-day product instead of a 3-day or 1-day product? I am not aware of any eating or hygiene changes. What can I do to help myself? Thank You.
