Hello, I'm also a 19-year-old sophmore in college (junior next semester :) and my first gyno exam was two weeks ago. It wasn't that scary (as it shouldn't be) or that uncomfortable (although it really isn't that comfortable to put your naked but on the table and your feet in the "stir-ups.") But, if you have a good gyno who explains everything thoughly, then you should be fine. Also, if you want more info, just stop by any Planned Parenthood office, they have pamplets explaing the pelvic exam and they would be glad to help you even if you are not a patient.
