Persistent bladder or urethra disorder during pregnancy

I'm just over 7 months pregnant and have been experiencing extremely maddening bladder urgency/irritation symptoms since just before I became pregnant. Repeated tests for UTIs have all been negative. I have seen a urologist several times; the original diagnosis was that I had blocked or swollen periurethral glands (unrelated to pregnancy), which he treated with massage, which did seem to help. However, eventually the symptoms came back full force and now he says the glands seem fine. His current theory is that the baby's head is simply pressing on my bladder. However, this does not seem to explain why the discomfort is worst when my bladder is completely empty. To confuse things further, I saw a different urologist at one point when my regular doctor was unavailable, and that doctor performed a cystoscopy and said I had allergic polyps in the urethra. I went on a bland diet for 6 weeks (tricky during pregnancy) with no change in symptoms. The original doctor does not seem to agree with the polyp diagnosis and says that if that were the problem, dilatation would help, which it no longer does. I simply can't face another two months of feeling this way, and I'm also worried the symptoms will not just go away after I deliver; the last thing I need after delivery is to worry about this too! Currently the only relief I get--other than being asleep--is when I'm sitting in a hot bath. I read a forum question from about a year ago about a pregnant woman who tried Elmiron that interested me. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
