FIBROIDSFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 5 Apr 2000 17:43:38 -0500 (CDT)
I am writing to get specific information regarding fibroids relating to my symtoms. I am a 41 year old black female with high blood pressure (under control with medication) and I have been diagnosed as having small fibroids, but has been told they are very small. This exam was done on an out-patient basis at one of our local hospitals approxi-mately 2 to 3 years ago. The procedure was done vaginally, because with the ultra sound, they could not be detected. However, my GYN Doctor does not see where anything needs to be done at this point since my pain has been minor and is usually relieved with ibuprofen products. Recently (approximately 4 to 6 months ago), I was diagnosed as being Anemic with very low blood. During my periods, I have heavy bleeding. But this sometime varies. Some months may be heavier than others and some months are normal. I have also developed a craving for eating ice for some strange reason. However, my M.D. has told me that this is usually a sign of being anemic. However, my most depressing concern at this time is abdomen bloating. My abdomen protrudes no matter what I eat or don't eat. I notice since the ice eating, I seem to stay bloated quite frequently in the abdomen area. My question is: Is this coming from the fibroids? What can I do to relieve the abdomen bloating? Also, I need to mention that I recently went to my M.D. and was diagnosed with having diverticulosis and given medication to take. The medication is working, but I notice my abdomen area is still experiencing bloatedness. Will this go away once I complete taking the medication? Or again, is this some-thing coming from the fibroids as I get older? Your answers to the above will be very helpful. Also, if you can give me some tips on relief of the bloatedness, and how to keep my anemia under control (which my doctor does have me on iron pills with folic acid), this will be very helpful. Thanks! K/
