Periods after childbirthFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Mar 2000 23:36:25 -0600 (CST)
Normally my periods before giving birth 5 weeks ago would last approximately 7-10 days. 3 days after giving birth I got my first Depo injection. I bled consistantly and slacked off quite a bit during the third week. Five days ago however, I started bleeding again, bright red rather than light pink, which I'm assuming is my period since I also had a couple of clots and a little cramping which felt like period cramps based on past experience. The flow of the period though is a little heavier than normal, and isn't slowing down quite as fast as a normal period. Is it normal to have a heavier period, or one that lasts longer right after childbirth? I'm not hurting at all, but just bleeding a little heavy for one of my normal periods. I have an appointment in 6 days for my six week check up and since I was told I would have to reschedule it if I'm still bleeding or if I am on my period, I'm just wondering if it will slow down soon. (The doctor wants to do a pap smear when I have my exam).
