encapsulated breast implantFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Mar 2000 19:48:19 -0600 (CST)
I don't know if this is the place to look for an answer, but if not maybe you can direct me to the right place. I have had a breast implant following three lumpectomies for breast cancer. This was followed by radiation. The implant becomes encapsulated each time. I had the implant replaced 4 weeks ago and I can tell it is going to do the same thing again. That side also looks fuller and firmer than (and higher)than the other side. The plastic surgeon tells me it is all caused by the radiation, but if this is so why do they keep replacing it? And is the problem the implant? Has no research been done with maybe your own body fat as an implant? Please give me any information you can. It's a very frustrating problem.
