CHRONIC CERVICITISFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Mar 2000 20:59:00 -0600 (CST)
I had an abnormal pap smear, which was my first abnormal one ever. My GYN suggested that I have a colpscopy, in which I did. During the procedure she did she some abnormal cells, in which she took biopsies from. I got the results today, which were no cancerous lesions, but that I did have chronic cervicitis. I asked how it would be treated and she told me that it would not be treated with any meds. She did suggest to have another pap smear in 3 months. The thing that concerns me is the -itis means infection which should be treated with some sort of med. I have been reading some things on this matter today. Should'nt the source of the infection be id'ed and treated? I am concerned with conception in the future. I am also concerned with this not being treated eventually spreading into the uterus or fallopian tubes. Would you please give me some answers? They would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!
