Post Pardum DepressionFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 Mar 2000 16:23:13 -0600 (CST)
I'm concerned about my mood swings lately. I have a history of major depression and have been on and off meds since I was about 16 for depression. I have taken meds about 6 different occasions and have taken about 10 different kinds of anti depresants. I had a baby about 4 weeks ago and I'm not sure if it's hormones or what, but I've been really depressed, have had no appetite, crying a lot, and just in general feel like life isn't worth it anymore. (The same basic way I felt when I had a major depressive episode in the past). My question is, Will this go away after the hormone levels settle back down or should I go back on anti depressants? Also, because of my past history of depression does that make me more suceptible to post pardum depression than other women? Also, I am on Medicaid so I don't have insurance after my 6 week check up which will be in about 2-3 weeks. How would I pay for antidepressants if i needed to take them?
