Marchbein, M.D.: "Re: Saw Palmetto and Excess Facial Hair on Women" I am the creator of a cartoon for menopausal women and in addition to trying to help them with humor, I try to help them find answers to some of the mysteries that go along with aging in general. In searching the web for remedies for excess facial hair, I kept coming across articles about "saw palmetto". I'm very aware that this is commonly used by men with enlarged prostates, but several articles indicated that it also might help reduce unwanted hair on females. Could it be that the connection has never been made? And would saw palmetto be safe to take in combination with other medications or supplements that are being recommended to women?
