Bleeding such as you describe is very common in early pregnancy, and is not necessarily a sign of a problem, but your concern is understandable. The vast majority of miscarriages are the result of chromosomal abnormalities of the embryo, and there is not any medication that can prevent what is going to happen, good or bad. There is a rare condition that causes recurrent miscarriage that can be helped with progesterone (possibly). The sad truth is that beween 25-33% of recognized pregnancies end in miscarriage. The process is so complicated, I guess we should be thankful that as many make it as actually do. I hope your bleeding turns out to be a false alarm.
