Re: 2nd negative laparoscopy in 2 yrs/continued pain!From: Robin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 23 Feb 2000 08:06:38 -0600 (CST)
Hi, You said that you had two *negative* laparoscopies, yet they found endo "in" your ovary. That would not make for a negative lap. Could it be that there is endo in there that your surgeon is not able to recognize? Endo can show in different colors, and if a Dr. is not familiar with all of the colors, it is likely that it will be missed. The Colonoscopy will only show an abnormality if it is in the colon, as that is where they are looking. If Endo has gone through the surface of the bowel, they will see it. If you have Endo *on* the bowel, it won't show, nor will adhesions on the bowel (during the colonoscopy). I had a test called a small bowel follow through to check for adhesions on the bowel. It came back negative, but I had a lot of adhesions on the bowel. I was told the ahesions have to be extremely dense to show....Mine were dense, but not dense enough. I don't know where you live, but maybe your Dr. knows of an Endometriosis Specialist that can review your records, and decide if there is something s/he can help with. Good luck, and feel better!
