I have to tell you, that I think your theory is incorrect. I don't believe that most people would agree to letting a resident practice their technique on them. I was always under the impression that there were "professional patients" or clinical teaching assistants that helped residents through exams. The residents practiced on them, and the assistant let them know if they were doing things correctly or if they were hurting them. I know these young doctors have to learn, but I do not think it is ethical or even moral to let them "practice" on patients. Pay the professional patients to teach them. Having a chaperone in the room for my protection is one thing. But letting someone put their hands on me is totally different. I have on two different occassions declined to let residents in the room with me.
