In general most gynecologists would suggest colposcopy for a CIN 1 Pap. I don't perform a biopsy unless there is a visible abnormality (with the exception of the scraping part, called an endocervical curettage, or ECC). Your doctor may have seen something slightly irregular and decided to biopsy it, just in case. The overwhelming majority of cervical biopsies are tiny. They grow back in a few weeks and should not lead to any fertility problems. I hope it comes back normal.
