Blood interactions between mother and baby

I have a friend who somehow developed a defense against her unborn babies blood. Once the baby was born her platelets were dangerously low, and she had to receive numerous blood platelet transfusions. This was her second, and they said it probably happened with her first child, however it gets worse with each child. Is there any medication she could take during her next pregnancy? She's been advised not to have any more children. Are there any other options? Thankyou in advance
