Re: Pregnancy ContractionsFrom: C Twisdale RN (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Jan 2000 19:36:43 -0600 (CST)
Have you notified your MD? Baxton Hicks are not uncommon, especially at this time of pregnancy. Couple of thoughts; are you drinking enough fluids? Sometimes dehydration can lead to contracting. When you start feeling these, stop what you are doing, lie on your left side and drink a couple of large cups of water. See if that helps out. Also, have you had a recent cervical exam? Suggest you let MD know what is going on and get checked. Labor is usaully defined as regular uterine contractions and cervical dilatation, you state you are having the contractions, but you need to let MD check for the rest. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids! Good luck
