Although somewhat controversial, many would say that if you have ever had a positive test for lupus anticoagulant, then you should receive baby aspirin and/or heparin your next pregnancy. Please note that a positive lupus anticoagulant is *not* the same thing as having lupus, nor is it the same thing as the most common test for lupus, which in an ANA. In general women who have a positive lupus anticoagulant should also undergo blood testing for anticardiolipin antibodies. Regardless of that result, with a history of a term stillborn without other known cause, I would advise my patients to consider baby aspirin and heparin. Best wishes,
