Ovarian Abnormalities

I have always been very active, involved in sports or running several times a week. For many years, sometimes after a long or difficult run, I would have pelvic pain (sharp, stabbing) and sometimes light or moderate spotting, especially at what I took to be ovulation time. I just assumed that I had "overdone it" and should be more careful.

About two years ago, I started my period with excruciating sharp pelvic pain at the middle of my left pelvic area. I called my gyn, who assumed I was having "normal period pain" and advised me to take over the counter pain medication. This made no difference whatsoever. I had a normal Pap done, and went on the pill, as my doctor seemed to think it might be endometriosis, and the pill would help with the pain. The pill did make a big difference, but the pain continued, and impeded my ability to live my life normally. After some pushing, my gyn suggested a lap to see what the problem actually was. She still leaned toward endo. By this time, I was also experiencing pain on my right side at about the same spot.

Fortunately, when she took a look, there was no endometriosis; however, she discovered that both of my ovaries were tightly adhered to my pelvic wall. She did not try to separate them during a lap because of the possible complications, but we later discussed different treatment options. She is more concerned about my fertility; I am more concerned about being able to live my life the way I want to. I am 35, not married, and not anticipating children. However, I am concerned that another operation could cause as much problem as it solves, in the form of scar tissue, etc. Have you seen this kind of situation before and what would you suggest as preferable treatment options?
