Virginia,
Your daughter is very fortunate to have such an understanding and supportive
mother! And still, your daughter has a difficult decision to make. How
lucky she is to have a choice! Many people would take this freedom from
women, based on their own limited experience. I know first hand how
opinionated people can be. (until they walk in anothers shoes, they just
don't know...) I have read in medical literature that an embryo does not
feel pain. But we really do not know for sure. One thing is certain, an
abortion causes pain to the woman, physical at the time, mental for many
years after. Birthing pain is felt by both mother and baby, that is known.
And having a baby without a partner, no matter how supportive family may be,
she is still in for a rough road. Adoption is also an option. The pain of
birth is still there to be delt with and the emotional pain will last a life
time. None of these are easy choices. And to add to this, the rollercoaster
ride her harmones are taking her on makes it that much harder. She must be
honest with herself! What were her beliefs about abortion, adoption, and
single parenthood prior to this pregnancy? That in itself could be the
answer. God Bless You Both.
Penny
