sarcomaFrom: Helen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 11 Jan 2000 19:46:26 -0600 (CST)
Dear Doctor, I had a hysterectomy 5 days ago. (I am 53, post menopausal.) My doctor told me after the surgery that I had a fist-sized mass in my uterus and that he suspects it to be a sarcoma as it is something that had doubled in size in just a short time. He did say that he believed that it was contained inside the uterus and he thought it had not spread. He hasn't received the pathology report yet and I am getting worried by what I've gleaned from the internet concerning sarcomas. I do trust his 30 year experience and reputation as a good gyn. If it does turn out to be a sarcoma, what questions do I need to ask? Please, if you have any advice, I need it! Should I see an oncologist or trust that all is okay since it is removed? Thanks.
