Hi Andrea, Join the HMO haters club :) LOL Really I had to change PCP's 4 times this last year and am ready to look for number 5 soon. I have a hard time getting them to refer me to the specialists I need for my different medical problems (my PCP's act as if the money is coming out of THEIR pocket which makes me suspect they are truly working for the HMO and not for ME!). Not only that but every problem I have had from menopause to a hysterectomy, each one wants to prescribe the latest designer antidepressants. I wasn't depressed when this all started but I am getting that way from the way I am being treated medically, not from any chemical imbalance! I wonder sometimes just how much these doctors get for prescribing unnecessary meds? I know not ALL doctors are this unscrupulous, but I guess up here in Maine the doctors need to make extra bucks where they can? So far since I moved here a year ago I haven't found one good doctor and I am seriously considering either switching to PPO or moving! Only a year ago I lived in upstate NY, and received excellent health care there under HMO and PPO plans at different times. I guess the times have changed or maybe it's just different by state? Anyway just wanted you to know, you're not alone. Oh and I did find one GOOD doc but he's my GI specialist and not a PCP :( It's ok though, he's been doing both jobs the past week, LOL Gina
