Thanks for your insightful answer. Sometimes it helps to reduce the frustration just by having a better understanding of what's happening on the other side.

It's just unfortunate timing that I ended up sick less than a week into the new insurance, so I don't fully understand how it all works yet. I have had a PPO plan for many years, and like the freedom that I had with it. Now I am paying twice as much in premiums for more aggravation and less freedom. But I can't blame the doctor for that -- that was my employer's decision. So I am frustrated on many levels, and getting the run-around from the PCP has not made things any better.

After this experience, though, I am inclined to find a new PCP. I find it thoroughly unacceptable that I can leave 3 different messages over 2 days and not get a return call from even the receptionist. I have yet to speak with a living, breathing person at this office -- just voice-mail. I suspect this office will be a frequent source of aggravation.
