Re: OB VideotapesFrom: Scotia Phillips, RT, RDMS (scotia@bellsouth.net)Mon Sep 27 05:29:39 1999
>This topic has been debated for years! My understanding is that the objection to Video taping is the increased exposure the fetus ungoes when the scan is prolonged for the purpose of obtaining a "keepsake" video. The solution to this problem is to utilize two VCR's, one for the facility to keep with back to back scans (you can get many scans on one tape) and the other for the patient. We have the patient bring their own tape, it must be in good condition and prepared for taping. In otherwords, I will not open sealed tapes, search for the starting point, label the tapes, etc. I do keep a supply of tapes on hand that the patient may purchase.
I agree fully with the statement that the video is MY friend. But I am
confident in my scanning skills and believe that any tape I make will
illustrate far better than words, my complete attempt to document all
fetal anatomy.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
