Roberta,
It is great to see that you have the fiber to push through this awful
blockage and let the truth come out about pregnancy and fiber. I need to
warn you that it can make you the butt of some jokes, however.
The guy who brought it to my attention, in a lecture at Oberlin when I was
a medical student was THE Burkitt of Burkitt's lymphoma. He was a general
surgeon & colonial medical officer. He had a hilarious lecture that
brought home the relation of a low roughage diet, which he said would be
the bloated end of our Western civilization. I continue in that spirit.
When I finished my residency, the nurses rewarded me for my crusade against
the obstipated dietary department with a huge box of raisin bran. It kept
me a regular guy through my fellowship!
Thank you for exposing this hard and stony problem, so that we can get to
the source & eliminate it! The moral is, strong fiber is an absolute must
for pregnant women. It can prevent piles of problems, especially the very
pushy, and can cure pelvic pain frequently.
;D Jim Smeltzer
