Dr. Rana, I find your message very interesting. We have had an OB/GYN physician from India visit and observe in our OB ultrasound lab for the past 2 summers as she comes to stay for awhile with her son who is a gastroenterologist at our hospital. We have politely tolerated her as a courtesy to her son, but the only thing she seemed to have an interest in was having us point out the gender on each exam. She said she performs her own u/s exams at home but does not reveal the sex, I never heard her mention any laws prohibiting revealing gender. I still don't know why she always asked us to show her the gender. Patty Albuquerque NM

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
