Re: Small Lesion or Chorioangioma?From: Allen Worrall (jworrall@alaska.net)Mon Sep 6 22:24:10 1999
The placenta is usually seen very well during prenatal ultrasound, depending on the duration of pregnancy and the thickness of mom's abdominal wall. Tumors of the placenta can usually be seen. Chorioangioma can be suspected, in some cases with a good deal of confidence. However, the positive diagnosis is made by the pathologist. Your other questions are best directed to your pediatricians, who know just what the diagnoses are in your two children. It sounds like you should also talk with a genetic counselor. I do not know the risk of developing another chorioangioma in your next pregnancy. Hopefully someone on this forum can answer that. Joseph A Worrall MD RDMS

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
