Re: Ovarian volumesFrom: DuBose, Terry (DuboseTerryJ@exchange.uams.edu)Mon May 3 08:33:36 1999
If you multiply D1xD2xD2 the volume is for the volume of irregular polyhedra (like a cube with a long axis). This will over estimate the volume of an egg shape by a factor of almost 2. I know of no formulae for ovaries, kidneys, uteri, or fetal crania that is not a rounded variation of: V = D1xD2xD3x0.523 However, the urinary bladder, being more of a pyramidal shape does not usually use this formula. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
