Cervical IncompetenceFrom: Martin St. Mark (mstmark@home.com)Sat May 1 19:57:46 1999
I need to get some more information an Cervical Incompetence. My wife is currently in her second trimester (21 weeks). At 19 weeks she started to experience pain but the source of the pain was not properly diagnose until she was 20 weeks. At that time it was reveal that the cervix had dilated to 2 cms. A week later it had gotten worse and had dilated 4 cms. She is currently hospitalize. The decision not to apply stitches was apparently delayed. The decisions has been taken that it is now to late for stitches. It appears that a decision has been taken to allow the dilation to continue with no apparent intervention. In addition she has a fibroid that has grown to 6 cms. It was said that at 20 weeks the fibroid was bigger that the fetus head. What medication can be use to reverse or decelerate the rate of dilation at this point with out any significant harm to fetus or Mother. Your Help would be greatly appreciated. I need help this is my first baby. A concern Dad.
