Re: sonographers right to give information to patientFrom: Joseph A Worrall MD RDMS (jworrall@alaska.net)Wed Mar 24 13:26:23 1999
There probably is some reason why the radiologists are imposing this: it would help you to learn what the reason or reasons are. Probably they have had a lawsuit filed, or they read of one. Or perhaps they have had complaints from referring doctors. I do my own scanning, and I do not think it is necessary or desirable to keep information from the patient and her family. Although I do not employ a sonographer, if I did and I could not trust his or her ability to talk prudently with the patient during the scan, I would not want them working for me. It is probably best to talk with the radiologists and find out what is bothering them, then you will be in a better position to deal with this problem. Joseph A Worrall MD RDMS

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
