been my experience as well, Terry. the only hazard of the longer placenta is in missing the narrow edge of placenta covering the os. now a long FAT placenta - that's a different deal and that IS pathology. i remember a newborn with congenital syphilis. the placenta in that case was LARGER than the baby.
