Re: placenta- 19/03/99From: Terry J. DuBose (DuBoseTerryJ@Exchange.UAMS.edu)Mon Mar 22 16:21:37 1999
Dr. Antony, in general I believe you are correct. Usually the placenta will not reach from the fundus to the os. However, there is a relationship of the placental mass to the placental "foot-print" and shape. A relatively thin placenta, which is narrow in on dimension, may compensate by being longer in another dimension. This is discussed in: Table adapted from graph in Hoddick WK, Mahony BS, Callen PW and Filly RA; "Placental Thickness"; J Ultrasound Med, 1985; 4:479-482. Good luck, please let the list know what you find about this placenta. Peace, Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS Chair, Ultrasound section OBGYN.net ----------

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
