R: Yolk sac

As for measuring the yolk sac, difference between inner and outer measurements can be quantified in about 1.5 mm.(i,e,:7 mm outer-outer equals 5.5 mm inner -inner) Leading edge method stands somewhere in between.Since Ed Lyons says that a yolk sac greater than 6 mm carries a troublesome prognosis, and the findings I have say that a 7 or greater mm diameter carry the same prognosis,I think we are saying the same.I did the outer-outer because this method allows me to perform a simple "rule of thumb" in the early days after conception (i.e.:2mm CRL,2 mm yolk:OK,3mm CRL,3mm yolk:OK,3mm CRL,7mm yolk:what about a trisomy 21?I cannot do this using the inner-inner method. Also, one should take into account the fact that some yolk sacs are not so round, but somehow elliptical,so you should calculate the mean of both diameters, not to mention those which have an irregular shape (which I think should not be taken into account at least for the moment).Shall we establish a common rule? Can everyone give his own suggestions?Should Terry keep the records,or Ed,in order to collect the data?Let me know what you think and let's get started! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
