Re: Ultrasound markers of fetal anemia

Dawn,

Reading ackwards, so I may have missed this, but: 1. Of all the US measures of who is critically anemic, Max velocity of the MCA is the best I am told. Some wait for signs of hydrops by weekly US (but have lost babies) to blood group sensitization. A paper at SPO on splenic dopplers vs anemia looked promising as well.

2. As there is a good DNA test for Rh type by amnio (& probably for the other majors as well by now) the only reason to do cordo is indicator of severe disease by other means (Hydrops, Zone 3 Liley or Hi MCA Vmax, IMHO.

The number of MFMs who don't need a real indication for cordocentesis is falling.

(which is not your case) Right after I interviewed with Midwest peri., I read an article in the Wall Street Journal about taking a position that sounded great but not feeling comfortable with the people you were working with - everyone agreed from execs to blue collar workers that you won't enjoy your work if you do not get along. This has been my gut feeling about St. Luke's since 1995. It was my feeling about Midwest as well although I was disappointed that they "rejected me" (and a certain remark that I wasn't the best candidate - a real slap in the face when you think of who I was being compared to!) >My personal feeling is that there is a reason that jobs, deaths,

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
