Yes -- the methods of measurement of nuchal translucency (10-14 weeks) and nuchal thickness (2nd tri) are different. For nuchal translucency, the measurement is of the "black space" only. In nuchal thickness, the measurement extends to the surface of the skin. References: for translucency see the work of Nicolaides and Snijders. For thickness, see Benacerraf's original papers.
