Good point, Dr. Copel. Dr. Worrall, did you happen to obtain any images in the plane of the synechia? That should give us a good idea of just how circumferential this shelf is.

whether this has significance or not. The term you use to describe it implies that it really runs circumferentially, and that this is a hole in the center, as opposed to a large band laterally that the embryo is sitting next to. So I guess I am asking as you scan back & forth do you see the fetus in the middle of this or adjacent to it? If in the middle I'd be concerned about it restricting fetal growth pretty quickly. I am not personally a fan of cutting amniotic bands (which this obviously is not), as I suspect in most cases it will be too little too late, with significant potential maternal morbidity. Not sure if it would be possible to cut this safely even if it does pose a risk of limiting fetal growth as there appears to be a lot of decidua, and therefore blood flow, within it. >

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
