Carolyn Alexander <carolyn_alexander@hp.com> Subject: Re: "Sonographer's Wrist" Hello Victoria I am sorry to hear about your problem. You are one of many, in fact 81 % of sonographers are scanning in pain according to our recent national survey. Yes indeed ganglion cysts have a higher incidence in sonographers than is present in the general public. I have also had a student suffer from this in a very short time of scanning (three months) She had surgery for its removal with no further problems that I am aware of. She was right handed and performing echocardiography with her left hand. (the cyst was on her left hand). She was informed that the cause was most likely scanning. There is an article in Sept 1997 in JDMS on the results of this survey. Also SDMS has 40 plus articles on scanning problems in sonographers. A copy of all these articles can be obtained for the price of the copies ($20) direct from SDMS call and ask for Laura Logan to request your set. 1 800 229 9506. SDMS has been strudying this problem for over three years now please put your problems on this list as I collect this data and would be happy to receive it by list or direct to jpbaker@sttl.uswest.net TY DuBose, Terry wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
