Re: Treatment for oligohydramniosFrom: Carolyn Stephens (http://www.sailing8@swbell.net)Mon Aug 10 21:22:46 1998
I was diagnosed with oligohydramnois. I am 31 weeks now. I have four children right now this will be my fifth. The doctor told me its girl. When I went for an ultrasound at 24 weeks everything was normal. Now I am 31 weeks he says that I have this condition. He says all that I need to do is to get bed rest and drink water and come back in 2 weeks. I recently fell and hurt my self and I have also been feeling like I have a urinary infection and i have also been having pelvic pains. I dont smoke or do drugs and I wanted to know how I got this. What is the percentage of babies living and dieing with this? Will my baby be retarded? What percentage of babys die at birth? What is the latest medical research? I have read that this is a potenialy fatal disease and I have also read that drinking water dosent help only an IV would make a possible difference. There is not much on this disease as far is i have found. Please contact me if you know anything.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
