?Urachal cyst?From: M Buchanan-DeLamar (75640.2506@compuserve.com)Sat Mar 28 07:28:52 1998
Terry, I couldn't access the following to review the image. >http://www.obgyn.net/us/present/9803/DuBose.htm The term urachal cyst brings back an almost panic attack in my early days of performing us exams (we only did about 25% the number of exams we perform today). The only urachal cyst that I ever saw was in a 14-15 year old that came into the emergency room about 12-14 years ago on a Saturday or a Sunday. At that time I was the only person performing ultrasound exams and the only person in this town besides the radiologist (and the ob/gyn to a limited extent) who knew anything about us exams and at that time I sure didn't know what I was looking at when I ruled out it wasn't a huge overfilled bladder that wouldn't empty and it probably wasn't ovarian. It was one of the rare moments in those days when ER located the only ob/gyn we had at that time and the radiologist was in town on a weekend and they both came in about the same time. I've never thought about the chance I might come across this in a fetus. It wasn't even pictured in any referance books I had and I've seen very little written about it. Mary Ann

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
