Re: 3D Multiplanar EndometriumFrom: DuBose, Terry (DuboseTerryJ@exchange.uams.edu)Sat Mar 14 15:06:50 1998
Yes the coronal plane is nice isn't it Diana, and shows a lot of anatomy. Look at the ventricles, the hippocampal gyri, midline, thalamus, it is all there... and more. Notice how circular the CHC is, that is normal. Almost all dolichocephalics will have an exaggerated VCD and be dolichooxycephalic; and brachycephalics will have a shortened VCD and be brachyoplatycephalic. But, Diana, I will take issue that it is "Usually only obtainable on some retro uteri." The sonographers (>15) I trained in Austin Texas took 3D diameters (and more, see Coronal Triangle Diameter, FETAL SONOGRAPHY) of the fetal skull in 90+% of all fetal heads for over 10 years. We have a population of 10,300 and we know you can get the coronal view as often as the BPD if you just try. Again, and you folks are going to hear this from me over and over, if there is molding then the transverse head circumference is not enough. Most of the change in head shape with molding is in the vertical axis because of the way the sutures and fontanelles are arranged. Maybe I'll submit the article once more to some journal. Anybody have any suggestions... besides the JUM? I would like one that is listed in the Index Medicus. The JDMS published the head volume article in 1985 and I got the K Gottesfeld award for it in 1986 (not 1996, my mistake), but that was not the 3D BPD Correction, which is much easier to use. Check FETAL SONOGRAPHY or http://www.io.com/~dubose/bbii.html . Rave, Rave, RAVE.... -- Peace, Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS
