Re: Cord Around NeckFrom: Abdel-Maguid Ramzy HOTMAIL (ramzyam@hotmail.com)Thu Jun 19 13:41:08 2008
Dear Vikas There is no way that cord around the neck (CAN) can kill a baby in the uterus. Not even during vaginal delivery except if it is a double loop around the neck and the doctor (very unlikely) did not take appropriate measures to untie the loops before the baby takes his first breath. In this case the cord becomes too short that the head remains high and cannot be delivered except by CS. Of course if the baby is delivered by CS the issue of CAN is of no importance and easy to deal with. So Vikas there must be another cause of regrettable death of your baby. And yes a skilful ultrasonographer , even in B&W 2 dimensional USG, the condition can be diagnosed but only if carefully looked for. By using vessel colouring USG (Doppler), CAN can be easily diagnosed. All the best Abdel-Maguid Ramzy Prof. of OB. GYN., Cairo Univ. Secr.
