Questions and discussions initiated by ULTRASOUND subscribers about products and services ARE appropriate. This provides an avenue for help, hints and recommendations among the colleagues on this list. PLEASE!!! DO NOT FLAME EACH OTHER ON THE LIST. There is a difference between healthy disagreement and downright nastiness (We can't define it, but we know it when we see it). If you have an opinion for someone send it directly to them. People may lose interest if this becomes a problem. The Ultrasound Obstetric and Gynecology Forum is a global community for the discussion of clinical issues among medical professionals. National political debates and adversarial doctor vs sonographer threads are outside the scope of this Forum and are unacceptable. Persistent offensive or overly provocative postings may result in removal from the list. GUIDELINES FOR MESSAGES - Always use a descriptive subject line. - Always sign your postings. Include your name, your e-mail address and your institutional affiliation. But don't go overboard. - Do not send encoded documents to the list. Ascii text only, please. If you wish to share a document or other encoded attachment with the ultrasound readership DO NOT EMAIL IT TO the list. Instead, use the OBGYN.net upload form found at http://www.obgyn.net/scripts/dbml.exe?template=survey&v=9 Your document will then be placed on the OBGYN.net ftp server and an URL will be emailed back to you that you can then use to announce to the ultrasound readers where they can find the document. This solves these problems: 1. large files or emails should not be sent to a list of people without their prior consent 2. many people's email programs can not handle attached documents 3. it strains the OBGYN.net list processor which degrades its performance for all functions while sending out over 700 copies of this file 4. documents must be virus checked before being distributed - there is no faster way to get 700+ people mad at you then sending out an infected document. - Please try to keep the "chaff" off the forum - the messages that don't need to be sent to the entire list to a minimum. These should be sent directly to the individual. If you are unsure how to direct your reply to the individual instead of the list, check with your local e-mail system administrators. You may have to create a fresh message rather than using a reply function. (Remember that ultrasound is configured so that replies are sent to the entire list, not just the individual who posted the message.) To determine whether something should be sent to the entire list, ask yourself "Does this only involve one person, or will many ultrasound readers likely be interested in my message?". - When sending a reply to the list, DO NOT INCLUDE THE ENTIRE PREVIOUS MESSAGE. Extract any relevant portions, if necessary. - Keep your postings within the scope of the list. - Absolutely NO Profanity will be tolerated - ULTRASOUND is not for asking medical questions. There are appropriate forums on the internet for patients to ask questions of physicians. WARNING: This forum is international and freely available to anyone with access to a computer. For your own protection, consider this in posting to the list. We recommend not mentioning patients by name or cases with identifying information. NOTE: The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria.
