No one said that building an inclusive system would be easy. But I do not believe the current mismanaged care system is working, we can do better.

Simplistically, I can imagine a system in which medical care is delivered in a system more like "fee for service" in which the federal government is billed and the "bad debts" of the patients do not exist.

It is true that the population of Denmark is smaller and much more homogeneous than ours, but that does not convince me that the USA cannot do better.

It's much easier to do if it is all you know. It is also much easier to do on a smaller scale. Regardless of how pretty and utopian it sounds it would be a logistical nightmare to implement in the USA because of the sheer size of our population. We may end up with a public/private system, but I don't believe we will ever end up with a full on public system ala Denmark. If by chance we do, I believe it will be long after my lifetime.

And no, we can't take it with us, but I would like to leave something to my children other than debt and taxes.

I agree that paying for universal health care is an issue. But we can't take it with us, and Denmark seems to have found some answers. With a 50% tax rate, they are the most content people on Earth, it appears: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/02/14/60minutes/main3833797.shtml

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
